Consistent improvement at poker requires a structured routine. Random study doesn’t work — deliberate practice with clear goals does.
Why a Routine?
Without structure, you’ll study what’s exciting rather than what’s needed. A routine ensures you address your weaknesses systematically.
The Weekly Framework
Monday: review hands from the previous week (30 minutes)
Wednesday: study one specific concept or solver spot (30 minutes)
Friday: play with a specific focus objective
Sunday: journal + weekly review and goal setting
What to Study
Start with your biggest leaks. Use tracker data to identify them: losing positions, bad river calls, missed value bets, unnecessary bluffs.
The Study Session Structure
Choose one topic. Read or watch content about it. Review 3-5 hands from your database related to that topic. Formulate one actionable rule.
Journaling
Keep a simple journal with: win rate, volume, mental state (1-5), key hands, and one lesson learned per session.
Tools for Improvement
Hand replayers for review, solvers for theory, coaching videos for new concepts, and study groups for discussion and accountability.
