A HUD (Heads-Up Display) shows opponent statistics in real time. Knowing which stats to prioritize and which to ignore saves you from information overload.
What Is a HUD?
A HUD overlays statistics on your poker table, showing each opponent’s tendencies based on your hand history database.
The 3 Essential Stats
VPIP (Voluntarily Put $ In Pot): how often they play hands. Fish: 40%+. Reg: 18-25%.
PFR (Pre-Flop Raise): how often they raise preflop. Passive: low PFR/VPIP ratio. Aggressive: PFR close to VPIP.
AF (Aggression Factor): postflop aggression. High AF (>3) = aggressive. Low AF (<1.5) = passive.
Secondary Stats (Add Later)
3-Bet %: how often they re-raise. Useful for adjusting your opening ranges.
Fold to C-Bet: how often they fold to continuation bets. High = bluff more. Low = value bet more.
WTSD (Went to Showdown): how often they go to showdown. High = calling station. Low = can be bluffed.
When NOT to Use a HUD
On your first 100 hands against an opponent (stats aren’t reliable yet)
In live poker or formats where HUDs aren’t available
As a replacement for observation and reads
Common HUD Mistakes
Adding too many stats (creates information overload)
Relying on small samples (200 hands doesn’t tell you much)
Ignoring context (a 25 VPIP player might be 40 VPIP at certain times)
