Heads-up in Spin & Go: 3 profiles, 3 plans (simple and practical)

The Expresso HU is where games are decided. Master push/fold ranges and exploitative adjustments.

The Expresso heads-up is the decisive moment. Mastering HU short-stack play covers 50%+ of your games.

Characteristics of Expresso HU

HU typically arrives with stacks between 10 and 25 BB. The pace is fast, every hand matters, and push/fold dominates.

Optimal HU Short Stack Ranges

25 BB BTN: push ~35%, open ~30%, fold ~35%

20 BB BTN: push ~45%

15 BB BTN: push ~55-60%

10 BB BTN: push ~70%

7 BB BTN: push all decent hands

BB Defense in Heads-Up

In BB, calibrate your call frequency by stack. Facing a 10 BB push, call with approximately the top 40-50% of hands.

Exploitative Adjustments

Even in push/fold, exploitative adjustments matter. If your opponent folds too much, push wider. If they call too loose, tighten up and push for value.

The Mental Aspect of HU

HU is also a mental duel. Maintain your focus, observe patterns, and don’t let a bad beat in the previous hand affect your next decision.

Critère
How to spot
Plan to adopt
🟢 The Nit (folds too much)
Folds > 70% to your pushes, only calls premium
Push 85-90% of hands, steal blinds relentlessly
🟡 The Calling station (calls too much)
Calls 60%+ your pushes, chases everything
Push value only (top 35%), zero bluff
🔵 The GTO (balanced)
Push/call consistent with Nash ranges
Follow strict Nash, minimal edge — play clean
🟠 The LAG (loose aggressive)
Pushes wide, 3-bets often, constant aggression
Push value top 50%, call wide vs his pushes
🔴 The Tilter (emotional)
Coming off a bad beat, erratic sizings
Patience, wide value bet, avoid marginal bluffs
The guide title promises "3 profiles, 3 plans" — here's the full version with 5 profiles. Identify yours in 5-10 hands, then apply the matching plan. Even with a small Nash edge, profile exploitation adds 1-3% ROI.
