Hand review is the fastest way to improve at poker. This 10-minute method gives you a structured approach to analyze your sessions.
Why Review Hands?
Playing poker without reviewing is like training without film study. You repeat mistakes you don’t know you’re making.
The 10-Minute Method
Step 1: Pick 3-5 interesting hands from your last session (big pots, tough decisions, uncertain spots)
Step 2: For each hand, write what you did and why
Step 3: Identify what you would do differently with hindsight
Step 4: Formulate one rule or adjustment for next session
What Makes a Hand Worth Reviewing?
Hands where you felt uncertain about your decision
Hands where you lost a big pot
Hands where you won but aren’t sure your line was optimal
Hands that felt ‘weird’ — your intuition flagged something
Common Review Mistakes
Only reviewing losing hands (winners can have leaks too)
Reviewing too many hands (quality over quantity — 3-5 is enough)
